Founded in the year 1992, ADU has become a Higher Education Institute which gives education in a total of 77 different academic units: in 21 Faculties, 3 Graduate Schools, 1 State Conservatory, 1 School, 19 Vocational Schools and 32 Research and Application Centres in time.

The main aims of ADU are to bring up young individuals who have fully adopted secular and democratic values in line with Atatürk’s principles; who can do research, ask questions and discuss; create solutions based on reason and science; assume a rational approach in all areas from production to administration; safeguard national values; contribute to Turkish civilization and are highly qualified people of the information age.
