The staff, apart from their educational activities, has been conducting excavations, surveys and museum research where the students also take part. Elective courses are also offered on these subjects and students can also choose other elective courses from various program of the university. It is aimed to train students to become creative individuals, who are capable of conducting scientific research, questioning knowledge and thinking critically, utilizing contemporary technology, sensitive to social and environmental problems.
Opened in 1992, Adnan Menderes University, Department of Archaeology and Art History was established in 1993. No. 5467 in 2002 with the decision of Council of Higher Education, Department of Archaeology and Art History Department has been divided into a section independently.
Since the 2009-2010 academic year the department began to provide an undergraduate education. There would be no masters and doctoral programs.
History of Art Department, in its own field of qualified national and international platforms (excavation, research, symposia, etc.) has been cooperating. Also support the work of researchers from the region and abroad continues.
The department aims to educate experts of Art Historians.
Protection of archaeological sites and monuments. Doing research in archaeological excavation and post reports. To conduct research on behalf of Anatolian history and culture.
Protection and maintenance of archaeological sites, ancient monuments including remains of national importance, museum and archive management are the main concern of Department of archaeology.
There is a fully-equipped classroom for undergraduate program. Students participate in related areas of studies include excavations and research conducted by department of faculty members.
