The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 local credits (60 ECTS) from thought courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, achieved a CGPA of at least 75 out of 100 and prepared and successfully defended a thesis are given given Doctor of Sociology Degree (Ph.D) in Sociology.
Terms of Exchange and Transition Programs
Postgraduate students who have completed at least one semester at a second cycle program in an equivalent institute of any higher education institution can be accepted to graduate programs.
Postgraduates who successfully complete all the requirements of the program will receive the degree of ‘Postgraduate Certificate in Sociology.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning
The student that has enrolled with graduate transfer is exempted from the equivalent courses that s/he has taken from her/his former program. Credit transfer for a course previously taken by the students registered with horizontal or vertical transfer may be accepted if the credits and the content of the course comply with the relevant course given in this faculty.
Profile of The Programme
The PhD courses in Sociology involve interdisciplinary programs that bring together teaching and research from a wide variety of sociological disciplines. Taking into account that students will be naturally interested in different areas of sociology we try to keep the number of elective lectures as high as possible. Another issue which our department gives importance is that to make sure that students understand the close relationship between the theory and practice/research. Currently there are 3 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 6 Assistant Professor 3 Research Assistant working full-time in the Department.

Postgraduates of the Department of Sociology are employed in public and private educational institutions, at universities; in public and private institutions such as family courts, children’s reformatories, elderly houses, prisons; in private and public research institutions, companies and in local governmental organizations.
