Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to define basic genetic concepts, Mendelian genetics, gene interactions, population genetics, quantitative genetics, structure and function of DNA molecule, recombinant DNA technology and plant breeding.

Course Content

Information macromolecules, genetic diversity, population genetics, basic principles of Mendelian genetics, chromosomal theory of inheritance, structure and function of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genes, changes in genetic material, chromosomal aberrations and mutations, basic principles of recombinant gene technology, induction, selection, hybridization techniques.
