In our country, the demand for electrical energy is increasing daily in parallel with the rapid development of industry and population growth. However, due to the limited energy resources, there is a dependence on external sources to meet this demand. Therefore, the efficient and economical use of electrical energy throughout the entire process—from production to consumption—is of great importance. Consequently, the need for qualified intermediate personnel to work in the fields of production, distribution, transmission, and efficient use of electrical energy is steadily rising. This program aims to meet the demand for such intermediate staff who can work at every stage of electrical energy production to consumption; in public institutions, private sector organizations responsible for the distribution and marketing of electrical energy, and in industrial facilities that use electrical energy.
History
The Electrical Program was established in the 2002–2003 academic year under the Department of Technical Programs at Aydın Vocational School. In the 2011–2012 academic year, it became part of the Department of Electricity and Energy. The program was transferred to Germencik Yamantürk Vocational School in the 2024–2025 academic year and continued its educational activities under Germencik Yamantürk Vocational School. The request to change the name of this program to "Electric Energy Production, Transmission, and Distribution" starting from the 2025–2026 academic year was approved at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated May 27, 2025.
