Objectives of the Course

The student will know basic pharmacological terms, drug forms used in radiography, and methods of applying opaque materials, and will be able to calculate drug dosage according to age groups.

Course Content

Introduction to pharmacology; To teach the definition of drugs, pharmaceutical forms and general rules related to application areas; Pharmacokinetics: To teach the mechanisms related to drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion; Pharmacodynamics: To teach the mechanisms by which drugs provide treatment in tissues; To explain fluid-electrolyte and blood products, their emergency requirements; general anesthetics; disinfectants and antiseptics; drug dose calculation; drug dose calculation according to special age groups; To inform students about drug or opaque selection according to radiography techniques and factors affecting image quality.
