The aim of this course is to teach students the causes and consequences of prominent economic problems in the world, especially in Turkey, from an economic perspective. Thus, with the contribution of this course, students will be able to comment on current economic problems and gain an economic perspective.
After the Second World War, a rapid and new development process began all over the world, especially in Europe. However, economic problems such as development, inflation, unemployment, growth, foreign trade, currency crises, exchange rates, economic protectionism, trade and exchange rate wars have not been resolved in the world. Especially the 2008 Crisis and the 2020 Covid-19 Crisis have caused serious economic problems around the world. In addition, economic differences between developed countries and developing countries have increased further. Although prosperity has increased rapidly in developed countries, basic human problems such as hunger, poverty, lack of access to energy and lack of access to food continue in underdeveloped countries. Moreover, although Turkey is a fast-growing country, chronic problems such as inflation, unemployment, middle income trap, exchange rate shocks and economic crisis continue. Therefore, in this course, the economic problems that come to the fore both in Turkey and in the world, their causes and consequences will be discussed from an economic perspective.
