With the decision taken at the meeting of the General Assembly of Higher Education dated 25.05.2011, formal education started in the 2011-2012 academic year. Medical imaging technicians inform patients about the radiological examinations to be performed and help them prepare. During the examination, they protect the patient's radiation safety and privacy, and after the examination, they keep the patient information confidential. They follow the regular maintenance and repair of the medical devices they are responsible for, in case of malfunctions, they report the situation to department heads or the biomedical unit and keep a record of the procedures performed. They also ensure that the examinations are archived regularly. Medical Imaging Technicians perform radiological examinations requested by the physician using the most appropriate imaging protocols. The total duration of study in the program is 4 semesters.
History
With the decision taken at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 16.03.1993, Söke Vocational School of Health Services was opened in the 1994-1995 academic year. With the decision taken at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 13.04.2011, the Medical Services and Techniques Program was opened under the Department of Medical Services and Techniques in the 2011-2012 academic year. With the decision taken at the meeting of the General Assembly of Higher Education dated 25.05.2011, formal education started with a quota of 30 students in the 2011-2012 academic year.
Mission
To train qualified personnel who can use high-tech imaging systems for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and who are equipped with professional knowledge, skills and behavior in accordance with the contemporary conditions of the day in the field of medical imaging services.
Vision
Considering that the field of study is human health, it is to be a College that can foresee all problems in health technicians, research, produce knowledge, is shown as an example at national and international levels and is honored to be a member.
Purpose
Program Educational Aims (PEA) PEA 1. Graduates explain the fundamental principles of medical imaging modalities, along with the relevant anatomy and physiology; and select and perform the appropriate imaging method based on clinical indications. PEA 2. Graduates identify conventional and advanced imaging devices (such as radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, and ultrasound) and operate these systems safely, effectively, and in accordance with their clinical indications. PEA 3. Graduates explain the principles of radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation safety, and protection; and apply these principles to ensure the safety of patients, healthcare personnel, and the environment. PEA 4. Graduates communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, and members of the healthcare team; and fulfill their professional roles and responsibilities within the framework of professional ethics, patient rights, healthcare quality standards, and relevant legislation. PEA 5. Graduates follow scientific and technological developments in the field; use information and communication technologies to support their professional development; and demonstrate awareness of social responsibility and lifelong learning.
Physical Infrastructure
Our unit is located in Söke District and provides education and training services in the Söke Faculty of Business Administration building.
Technical Infrastructure
The program includes 10 classrooms, 1 conference hall, 1 meeting room, 1 library and 1 dining hall.
