The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about the concepts of health and disease, the etiology and basic mechanisms of disease formation, to introduce the general characteristics of major systemic diseases, and to enable them to develop an informed, safe, and effective approach to hospital infections, medical waste management, and the health of healthcare professionals within the scope of healthcare services.
This course begins with fundamental concepts of health and disease, including the causes and frequency of illnesses, and covers the general characteristics of musculoskeletal, digestive, urinary/excretory, nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine system diseases. It also addresses important healthcare topics such as cancer (neoplasia), hospital-acquired infections and transmission routes, healthcare worker health, and medical waste management. The course aims to equip students with basic knowledge of diseases, enable them to recognize clinical symptoms at a general level, and develop safe approaches in healthcare settings.
