Objectives of the Course

To provide comprehensive information on the epidemiological and clinical features, diagnosis and treatment methods of infectious diseases, to provide students with the ability to acquire specific knowledge about these diseases, to protect patients from complications, and to manage legal processes related to Notifiable Diseases; thus, to develop an investigative and educational perspective on disease control and prevention.

Course Content

Epidemiology of infectious diseases and general epidemiological principles in infectious diseases, Causes of infectious diseases, Microorganisms and virulence factors, Host defense mechanisms, Methods of combating infectious diseases, Hospital infections and protection from hospital infections, Healthcare personnel and hand washing, Upper respiratory tract infections, Pneumonias, Acute diarrheas , Urinary system infections, Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus (GABHS) infections, Lung and extrapulmonary organ tuberculosis, Viral hepatitis, Sexually transmitted diseases, Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and prevention, Infectious complications of blood and blood product transfusion, Blood transmitted infections and healthcare personnel
