Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is for patients who will be treated with surgery or diagnostic procedures; shows basic patient care principles and methods. It is to provide the basis for other lessons by handling the patient with a holistic approach.

Course Content

Patient and employee safety, application of safe surgery checklist, assessment of vital signs, and monitoring of the patient in surgery, surgical hand washing, wearing sterile gowns, etc. basic applications such as.

Learning Outcomes
1.Understands the principles of surgical asepsis in the operating room setting and correctly performs surgical handwashing and sterile donning techniques.
2.During surgery, the nurse monitors the patient’s hemodynamic parameters (vital signs) and coordinates with the anesthesia team to ensure continuous monitoring.
3.IProvides appropriate patient positioning based on the type of surgical procedure and performs surgical site preparation (scrubbing) in accordance with established protocols.
4.Classifies basic surgical instruments according to their functions, sets up the operating table, and manages instrument and gauze count protocols.
5.It incorporates patient and staff safety standards (Safe Surgery Checklist, radiation safety, and sharps safety) into workplace practices.
