It aims to teach what should be done before (preoperative), during (intraoperative) and after (postoperative) surgery in surgeries for system-specific surgical diseases.
This course covers the fundamental concepts related to surgical diseases, the physiological responses of the organism in cases of homeostasis and conditions that disrupt homeostasis, the effects of stress factors on surgical diseases, and the classification, stages, signs and symptoms of shock, along with shock management in surgical patients. It also addresses tissue damage, wound healing and wound care, surgical infections and methods of preventing infections, fluid-electrolyte balance and its importance in surgical diseases. The course also examines the basic principles and practices of preparing, monitoring and caring for patients before, during and after surgery.
