Objectives of the Course

The primary aim of this course is to inform students about the basic concepts of finance and to raise awareness of finance-related issues. It is also aimed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to make sound judgements on issues such as spending, savings, financing, and investment, both in their private and working lives.

Course Content

Financial literacy concept, basic concepts of finance and economy, interest calculations, financial system, money and capital markets, financial instruments, cash budget, break-even analysis, alternative financial resources, investment decisions.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to identify the concept of financial literacy, its definition and scope, to be able to recognize the basic concepts of finance and economy and to be able to comprehend the aims and functions of financial management in businesses.
2.To be able to identify financial statements, to be able to examine and interpret these financial statements, to be able to perceive the time value of money and to be able to perform interest calculations
3.To be able to recognize the financial system, to be able to comprehend financial markets, financial intermediaries and financial instruments
4.To be able to comprehend financial resources and to be able to compare alternative financial resources,
5.To be able to comprehend the concepts of asset and investment, the management of cash and other assets
6.To be able to perceive the points to be considered while making investment decisions and to be able to the methods used while making investment decisions
7.To be able to comprehend the importance of Financial Planning and to be able to recognize the methods used in this regard.
