Objectives of the Course

The definition and classification of horticultural crops, the place of horticultural crops in the national economy, the biological characteristics of horticultural crops, the ecological requirements of horticultural crops, cultivation systems in horticultural agriculture, garden establishment and annual maintenance procedures, greenhouse cultivation systems, soil and soilless agricultural production techniques in greenhouses, and theoretical and practical information are given as a basis for other courses.

Course Content

Information is provided on the definition and classification of horticultural crops, the place of horticultural crops in the national economy, the biological characteristics of horticultural crops, the ecological requirements of horticultural crops, horticultural crop propagation techniques, cultivation systems in horticultural agriculture, garden establishment and annual maintenance procedures, greenhouse farming systems, soil and soilless agricultural production techniques in greenhouses.

Definition and classification of horticultural crops, the place of horticultural crops in the national economy

Seed and fruit, sterility and incompatibilities, parthenocarpy and apomixis, special climatic requirements of fruits and vegetables, dormancy in buds and seeds, flower and fruit set, fruit drop
