Objectives of the Course

This course is intended to provide general knowledge of constitutional law.

Course Content

Constitution and Constitutional Law, state, political power, political parties, electoral systems, government systems, fundamental rights and freedoms of the Turkish Constitutional Law.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Definition and content of Law, general characteristics of the Turkish legal system, separation of Public Law and private law and the place and general characteristics of constitutional law in the Turkish legal system will be given information.
Week 2 - Theoretical
General information about the concept of constitutional law and information sources of constitutional law will be given.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Information about the founding power will be given.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Information about the concept of state and forms of state will be given.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Information about government systems will be provided.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Information about democracy will be given.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Information about the elections will be given.
Week 8 - Intermediate Exam

Information about fundamental rights and freedoms will be given.

Information will be provided about the legislature as set out in the 1982 constitution.

Information about the executive branch, as set out in the 1982 constitution, will be provided.
