The aim of this course is to enable students to learn fundamental concepts related to mental health and mental illnesses, to recognize psychological problems that may occur in individuals receiving home care services, to communicate effectively with patients and their families, and to develop appropriate approaches in the care process in accordance with ethical principles.
This course covers fundamental concepts related to mental health and mental illnesses; it examines the biological, psychological, and social factors that affect mental health. The course addresses mental health issues an individual may encounter throughout their life cycle, common psychiatric illnesses, stress and coping mechanisms, effective communication with patients and their families, psychosocial support approaches, and practices for protecting and improving mental health in home care settings. Furthermore, patient rights, ethical principles, and the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork in mental health services are emphasized.
