Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to introduce the abiotic and biotic factors that are effective in the emergence of fungal plant diseases in the biosphere and in our immediate environment, the important fungal diseases seen in industry, cereals, legumes and ornamental plants, and vegetable and fruit trees in terms of their symptomatological, biological and microscopic characteristics and to teach the ways of their control.

The general characteristics of fungi, fungal nutrition, growth and reproduction, certain taxonomic categories that contain plant pathogenic fungi

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to main characteristics of fungi distinguishing them from other groups of microorganism.
2.To be able to understand their importance in many relations with human life.
3.To be able to gain the basic information on reproductive structures which are using to identification fungi.
4.To be able to comprehend the differences in phenotypic characters that are essential for fungal taxonomy.
5.To be able to learn life cycles of important plant pathogenic Oomycetes, Ascomycetes, rust fungi.
