Objectives of the Course

Orthoses, the choice of material used, orthosis types and properties, the necessary training on the selection and use of orthoses suitable for disability situations, the use of orthoses within the scope of activities of daily living (ADL), providing training on increasing their mobility, and explaining the basic principles of prostheses and the physiological and psychological effects of amputation. It aims to describe its operations.

Course Content

It includes the general concepts of prosthetic orthotics, types of prosthetic orthoses and in which situations they will be used.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the concept of orthosis and the basic principles of orthotic rehabilitation.
2.Explains Supportive-Functional orthoses and their indications, corrective orthoses and their indications, Immobilizer orthoses and their indications.
3.Explains the concept of prosthesis.
4.Explains the concept of amputation and ideal stump.
5.Explains the relationship between amputation indications and surgical techniques and prosthesis type.
