Objectives of the Course

In an active learning environment, students are interested in real people, institutions and events, and they are made aware of some sensory gains such as self-confidence, competence, responsibility and empathy. It is to ensure that students develop creative thinking, critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills that they will need in the future. The community service practices course can be effective in increasing students' sensitivity to social problems. Community service practices increase students' sense of readiness for the profession. In this course, students have the opportunity to develop these skills that they need to use at every stage of their professional lives, such as observation, critical thinking, problem identification, data collection, implementation and management of activities, evaluation and sharing what they have learned. Thanks to the community service practices course, students can identify social problems and manage the solution process of these problems. Thus, they can develop the necessary skills to be individuals who are sensitive to social problems.

Course Content

In the community service practices course, the student is at the forefront and takes an active role; the instructor also observes and guides the student's work. Course activities are generally aimed at selecting and implementing topics that students want to do and learn, and that can yield positive results.
