Objectives of the Course

To teach the principles of German Lyrick.

Course Content

Lyrik in German literature. Course Objectives: To learn the old German poetry and analysis methods. Definition of poetry, history, branches; to give information about symbols and syntax and to reinforce students' knowledge in applied works. Interpretation of Old German Poetry with Modern Methods.

Learning Outcomes
1.Learning basic terminology and theories of poetry in order to be able to implement on texts.
2.Ability to interprete the important verse in German and global literature considering that poetry disposes humanly sensitivities.
3.Emphasizing that poetry is a humanly and individual work of art considering the structure and aim of its lyrical nature.
4.Comprehending that poetry is the very first type of literature performed and ability to a critical approach to the role of man and society in the emerging of literal works.
5.Brainstorming on reflections of social events, political developments and lifetsyles of people on poems while considering important works of German and global literature.
6.Ability to comprehend the existence of a strong relation between the contemporary structure of a period and its poetry showing itself modal and thematically.
7.Comparing and contrasting poetry types of different cultures and periods in the light of modern poetical formations.
