Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to help students learn basic concepts and approaches related to physical, social, and mental development of human beings from fertilization until adolescence; and to help them to understand and explain individuals who make up the society from the development psychology point of view.

Course Content

Introduction to the field of developmental psychology and its topics; Basic problems of development; Basic concepts; Theories and methods in developmental psychology; Childhood concept; fertilization; Genetic effects; Prenatal development; Birth process; Development in infancy; Sensory and motor development; Initial cognitive development and language development; First social development; Attachment; Development in early childhood; Cognitive development in preschool period; Personality development and social development in preschool period; Development in school age; Personality development and social development in school age topics are studied.
