Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with information about the philosophical and physiological origins of contemporary psychology, its emergence as a field of science, its development, and the process of separation into subfields.

Course Content

Explanations and analyses of human from antiquity to the emergence of psychology as a science; New psychology: The foundation of modern psychology; Schools of psychology: structuralism and functionalism; Applied psychology: The legacy of functionalism; Behaviourism: Early influences, inception, post-institution; Gestalt psychology; Psychoanalysis: Beginnings, Psychoanalysis: Dissenters and derivatives of psychoanalysis; Contemporary ideas in psychology, History of psychology in Turkey
