The prehistoric, bronze age and 1st millennium BC archaeology of Caria is analysed.
Starting with the analysis of the open-air sanctuaries called ‘Prehistoric Latmos rock paintings’ distributed towards the south-east of Caria, the study begins with the analysis of the Latmos Suratkaya open-air sanctuary and then the Archaic Amyzon Mother Goddess sanctuary on the same plateau and the Hellenistic Zeus Akraios temple in Bağarcık, as well as comparative studies with other early sanctuaries of the region. Archaic and Classical Age historical process and architectural artefacts of Caria are analysed.
