Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide comprehensive information about the basic concepts of Toxicology and general mechanisms of toxicity.

Course Content

Introduction of toxicology science, its history, subjects and fields of study. Classification of toxic agents, exposure to toxic agents, dose-response relationship, general mechanisms of toxicity, biotransformation of toxic substances, toxicity and detoxification.

Learning Outcomes
1.Knows and defines the basic concepts related to toxicology.
2.Classify toxic agents and know the forms of exposure to toxic agents.
3.Knows and explains the general mechanisms of toxicity.
4.Learn and explain the damages caused by toxic agents in living systems and the basic mechanisms that cause these damages.
5.Knows and explains the biotransformation mechanisms of toxic agents.
6.Be able to evaluate the basic principles of toxicity tests.
7.Gains knowledge of exposure to toxic agents, types of toxic effects, dose-response relationship.
8.Gains the ability to evaluate studies related to toxicology in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, forensic medicine, environmental management and academic research.
