Objectives of the Course

To enable students to understand the hypothesis of life formation, chemical bonds, macromolecules and their monomeres, molecular mechanism of DNA and RNA synthesis, protein synthesis, chromosomal organisation and gene expression.

Course Content

Cell theory, modern cell structure, common features of biomolecules; carbohydrates; structure and function of proteins; common features of nucleic acids, structure and synthesis of DNA and genetic material, replication, transcription, translation, regulation of gene expression.
