Objectives of the Course

To teach the techniques used in molecular genetics

Course Content

Isolation of DNA from bacterial cells; quantitative DNA analysis; effect of temperature on DNA stability; plasmid isolation; observation of the presence of colicin factor; agarose gel electrophoresis and running DNA in agarose gel; effect of UV light on bacteria; transformation; amplification of DNA by polymerase chain reaction; cutting DNA by restriction endonuclease
