The objective of this course is to thoroughly examine the biological foundations of insect behaviors and their responses to environmental stimuli. Students will gain theoretical knowledge about social behaviors, communication mechanisms, orientation, and defense behaviors of insects.
This course will cover the fundamental principles of insect behavior. Innate and learned behaviors, foraging, defense, reproduction, chemical and visual communication mechanisms will be examined in detail. Additionally, topics such as colonization, division of labor, and communication strategies in social insects, as well as orientation and migration behaviors, will be comprehensively addressed. The potential applications of insect behaviors in biological control will also be evaluated.
