Objectives of the Course

The aim of this lecture is to teach students biomes and the basic concepts of biomes, general features of the world's terrestrial and aquatic biomes,their distribution in the Earth and characters which adaptate plants that live in different biomes to the environment and biological,ecological and evolutionary importance of these characters

1.Knows the levels of organization in living organisms, and explain the ecological concepts regarding the place and importance of biomes in these levels
2.Explains the factors that influence the definition of biomes and their distribution on Earth, and explain them with examples
3.Knows the general characteristics of terrestrial biomes in the world with their distribution on Earth, vegetations and plants
4.Knows the general characteristics of aquatic biomes in the world with their distribution on Earth, vegetations and plants
5.Knows characters which adapt the plants and animals in different biomes and explains the biological, ecological and evolutionary importance of these characters
6.Know and define ecological and physiological terminology associated with biomes
7.Explains the morphological and behavioral characteristics of plants and animals in different biomes with examples

Biomes and the basic concepts of biomes and importance of climate and vegetation to identfy biomes and their distribution
Week 2 - Theoretical
The world’s terrestrial biomes:General features of the polar and alpine biomes,their distributions in the Earth, flora and vejetation of the polar and alpine biomes
Week 3 - Theoretical
The world’s terrestrial biomes: General features of the tundra and taiga biomes,adaptations of plants that provide them to live in these biomes.
Week 4 - Theoretical
The world’s terrestrial biomes: Deserts ,the general features of deserts,their distrubition in the Earth and their vegetation.
Week 5 - Theoretical
The world’s terrestrial biomes: Flora of deserts and adaptations of these plants that provide them to live in these enviromental conditions.
Week 6 - Theoretical
The world’s terrestrial biomes:The general features of grasslands, their distrubition in the Earth and their vegetation and flora.
