Objectives of the Course

The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge of combinations, permutations, probability, random variables and distributions, some discrete probability distributions, and distributions of continuous random variables.

Course Content

Concept of sets and sample space, Basic principle of counting, Permutation and Combination, Probability of an event and probability axioms, Conditional probability, Dependent and Independent Events, Bayes Theorem, Random variables, Discrete random variables, expected value, variance, Some discrete probability distributions, ( Bernoulli, Binomial, Poisson), Some continuous probability distributions (Normal, Uniform, Exponential, Gamma, Beta)
