Objectives of the Course

in this course it is intended to study the basic ideas and theories of the philosophers and effects of these on culture and society starting from ancient period onwards.

Course Content

Critical selections of thinkers, their ideas and theories from antiquity, medieval and early modern philosophy and effects of these thoughts on culture and society.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be informed about the emergence and beginning conditions of philosophy
2.to be informed about the main problems, ideas, doctrines, theories and currents of philosohy starting from the ancient times until modernity.
3.Comprehending the important efects of trends and ideas of contemporary philosophy on other disciplines.
4.To gain a philosophical perspective on culture and society and actual current problems
5.To understand the philosophical roots of the birth of social sciences.
