Objectives of the Course

To teach the techniques of compiling oral literary products of Turkish folk literature and to provide the ability to evaluate the general characteristics and functions of these literary products.

Course Content

General and technical information about compiling oral folk literature products. Evaluating epic, fairy tale, legend and myth texts in terms of structure, content and function.

Learning Outcomes
1.Gains new knowledge and concepts related to the analysis of Turkish folk literature texts and can perceive the relationships between this knowledge and concepts.
2.Understand the defining characteristics of oral tradition works.
3.Learns the purposes and techniques of compiling Turkish folk literature texts.
4.Gains the ability to access the source of information about Turkish folk literature's verse and prose texts and to benefit from the sources within the framework of scientific criteria.
5.Understands the general characteristics of myth, legend, epic and fairy tale genres in Turkish folk literature and compare these genres from different perspectives.
