Objectives of the Course

Giving general information and definitions about Old Turkish literature and preparing this information for subsequent field courses.

Course Content

The problem of naming the periods of Turkish literature and divan literature, the characteristics and tradition of divan literature, the sound structure of divan poetry, the elements of harmony, the use of the concepts of Sufism, lover, beloved and rival in divan poetry, the detection and characteristics of the beauty elements of the lover, text commentary and methods and the methods used in poetry. Determining the characteristics of the images.

1.to be able to interpret tradition of Classical Turkish literature, naming problems, characteristics and limitations
2.to be able to find out poetry of Classical Turkish literature and folk poetry to find similar aspects
3.to be able to recognise practical elements of the text as sound structure of Classical Turkish poetry and harmony
4. to be able to make comments on making benefits from the Sufi tradition in the classical Turkish poetry
5.to be able to interpret lover, darling and competitor in the Ottoman poetry, their roles and the roles of literary works
6.to be able to define indispensable element of Divan poetry, lover and the elements of beauty
7.to be able to apply the definition methods into the texts
