Objectives of the Course

Providing students with the knowledge of historical development of Turkish phases

Course Content

The alphabet and characteristics of Turkish language in the first written texts, the phonological and morphological phases of Turkish language, the reasons and the vernacular and dialectical divisions of Turkish, the effects of Turkish geography and culture on Turkish

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to remember the previous knowledge and competence about Turkish language history and correspondingly, to perceive the relationship of knowledge and concepts
2.To be able to use the sources within scientific criteria
3.To be able to compose and analyze in his knowledge and thought, criticize and comment on the given information about Turkish language, Turkish culture and Turkish literature
4.To be able to compare his/her own area of study with other disciplines such as History, Geography and Sociology; to go over interdisciplinary study when needed
5.To be able to compare the differences and similarities of Contemporary Turkish language and literature under Turkish language and literature with the discipline historical Turkish language
