Objectives of the Course

To develop knowledge on the literature of Sufi tradition related to Turkish Folk Literature; to relate it to folk literature.

Course Content

Social and cultural background of the Sufi tradition; The Religion of Islam and Tasavvuf; the development of the Sufi traditionand its representatives, poetry and short stories.

Learning Outcomes
1.to be able to explain concepts in Sufi tradition and folk literature and comprehend the relationships between concepts and knowledge
2.to be able to use sources within the scientific criteria
3.To be able to analyze and interpret the types of knowledge within the area of Sufi tradition.
4.To conceive the historical process of Turkish folk literature and folklore.
5.To read the basic works of anonymous or sufi literature and to interpret them in terms of ideological movements. Depending on the recent knowledge, to be able about formal features of the literature. To learn how to assess this competence in light of historical, cultural materials and contemporary theories and methods.
6.To be able to evaluate the Khorasan saints tradition and Turkish Islamic Sufism
