Objectives of the Course

With this course, the student Learns and evaluates historical&cultural&literary situation in the 17th century, informs poetic features and representatives of this period, reads sample texts.

Course Content

History of 17th century Turkish literature, theoretical features and representatives of Sebk-i Hindî and Hikemî Style; Reading and commenting on examples from the lives, works and poems of famous poets of the period.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to explain social, political and cultural situation in the first half of the seventeenth century in Anatolia
2.To be able to define literary status in the first half of the seventeenth century and characteristics of the Sebk- Hindi and to interpret its reflection in poems
3.To be able to explain the famous poet of the period Nef’i's life and work,and determine his style of poetry represented by the reflection of his poems and to detect techniques and apply different forms of his own poetry
4.To be able to comprehend the status of political, cultural and literary in the second half of the seventeenth century in he Ottoman Empire
5.To be able to explain second half of the seventeenth century prose,properties and its representatives
6.To be able to define Nabi's life, his works and his literary personality and his style of poetry that hikmet and determine the properties of this school in Nabi's poems
