Objectives of the Course

Providing the students with general and basic characteristics of Old Anatolian Turkish

Course Content

The occurrence, development and characteristics of Old Anatolian Turkish; the place of this period among other historical vernacular; the analysis of 13- 15 century Works such as Yusuf u Züleyha and the stories of Dede Korkut

1.to be able to define concepts of Oguzs and Oguz Turkish and make a relationship between old Oguz Turkish and Turkey Turkish
2.to be able to recognize old Anatolian Turkish texts
3.to be able to compare 18. and 19. Turkish culture and language with today
4.to be able to classify the texts belonging to that era
5.to be able to give examples to Turkish poets and writers of XIII.-XV centuries
6.to be able to make a relationship between language processes and historical processes
7.to be able to explain the language characteristics of the period and use today’s language entity better by grasping the development of today’s words
