Objectives of the Course

The aims of the History of Turkey-European Union Relations course are to understand the historical development of Turkey-European Union Relations, to examine the political and economic context of these relations, to analyze legislation and agreements, to examine the attitudes of societies towards these relations, to make predictions about strategic goals, to follow the historical process to follow current developments. Making sense is among the other aims of this course.

Course Content

The history of Türkiye-EU relations will be discussed. In this context, the Ankara agreement, the Additional Protocol and the Customs Union decision will be examined in detail. In addition, it will be determined how Turkey will adapt to common policies. Therefore, the reforms that Turkey has made and should make in the process leading to full membership are the subject of this course. In this context, Accession Partnership Documents, National Programs, Progress Reports and Constitution and harmonization packages will be subject to detailed examination.
