Objectives of the Course

The main purpose of this course is to discuss the history of diplomacy from traditional diplomacy to modern diplomacy in the light of case studies and to illuminate the change and transformation from legal, ideological, cultural and institutional perspectives. For this purpose, global diplomacy and revealing the basic features of the Ottoman period Turkish diplomatic tradition in this diplomacy are among the promises of this course. Other objectives of the Ottoman Diplomatic History course are to reveal the differences between the Turkish diplomatic history of the Ottoman period by taking into account the dominant ideologies of the establishment, rise, stagnation and collapse periods of the Ottoman Empire.

Course Content

The History of Ottoman Diplomacy examines the periods of rise, stagnation and collapse, respectively, from the foundation of the Ottoman Empire, taking into account the basic characteristics, in the light of case studies, and reveals the development of Turkish diplomacy and foreign policy and the effects of the developments in the West on the way Turkish diplomacy is carried out. constitutes the content of the course.
