Objectives of the Course

Introducing the records kept by the Ottoman state during the XVIth, XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries and historians of these periods as well as their works.

Course Content

In this course primary sources that are consulted for the studies on the history of the early modern period will be handled. The most important of these are the archival sources. In addition to these researches and published books on the early modern period will be examined and documents belonging to Ottoman paleography and diplomacy, encyclopedias, dictionaries, catalouges and maps will be used in the research studies.

3.Being able to get information about the Ottoman intellectuals of these periods and their works.
4.Being able to grasp inellectual point of view on various subjects and ideological stances of the Ottoman intellectuals during these centuries.
5.Being able to comprehend the relations between the officials of the Ottoman Empire and the historian of the period
