Objectives of the Course

Modern Ottoman History Resources course provides the formation of source knowledge which is one of the basic principles in history teaching. The aim of this course is to introduce and evaluate the local and foreign sources of modern history for the scientific researches and studies.

Course Content

Information about the encyclopedia, catalogs and dictionaries used in academic studies is given to the researchers who will work on the history of the modern age. Ottoman historiography and XIX. century Ottoman chronicles. In addition, biography and bibliography works, salnâmeler, newspapers and other periodicals are introduced. XIX. century memories, travelers and travelers, consular reports ... etc. Domestic and foreign sources of Ottoman Modern History are introduced.
