Objectives of the Course

Understanding the sources of Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic religions will give the student a rational and realistic perspective in understanding history. For this reason, teaching philosophies of religion will contribute to the elimination of many mistakes in this field and will give a more rational perspective to the understanding of religion. To bring the mockery of religion to an intellectual and rational level, to contribute to human happiness by revealing the possibility of understanding oneself, nature, the universe and the Creator in harmony and peace with science. To place the relations between fate, power and human will on a rational basis. To contribute to social development by ensuring that human beings do not feel alone in a seemingly infinite universe. To explain that Abrahamic religions are based on Tawhid and justice. How the Abrahamic religions were changed by political and economic influences over time will be explained with examples from the Qur'an, Torah and Gospels. Thus, the unity of reason, emotion and belief of the students will be drawn to an intellectual and rational level. Information will be given about new age religions, atheism, deism, Oshoism, esotericism.

Course Content

What is the etymological origin and meaning of the word religion? How many religions are there? The political, economic and social reasons for the emergence of sects in Judaism, Christianity and Islam will be taught. It will be taught that the Abrahamic religions have common foundations based on Tawhid and justice, and that only the law brought by religions changes with the effect of the changing paradigm with the change of social, economic, etc. conditions, but Tawhid and justice do not change. New age religions apart from the Abrahamic religions will also be discussed and the imperial and exploitative influences behind them will also be covered in the course. Information will be given on Islamic philosophy, theology and theodicy, issues related to the ontological problems of human beings will be discussed with the students and the topics will be discussed in a conversational manner within the framework of democratic respect.
