Objectives of the Course

Department of History graduates have advanced theoretical and applied knowledge supported by course materials, applied tools and equipment, research methods and techniques, and other resources, based on the competencies they have gained in their fields.

Course Content

The Emergence of Islamic Historiography; First Muslim Historians and Their Works: Tabari and Historiography; Classification of Medieval Historical Sources; Iraq-Syria School in Islamic Historiography; Egyptian School in Islamic Historiography; General Histories (Chronicles); Geography Books; City-Regional Dates; Travelers and Travel Books; Persian Sources of Medieval History; Epigraphic and Numismatic Sources.

Learning Outcomes
1.Based on the competencies they have gained in their fields, they have up-to-date course materials, practical tools and equipment, research methods and techniques, and advanced theoretical and practical knowledge supported by other resources.
2.To be able to recognize and understand first-hand sources on medieval history.
3.To be able to understand the source languages ??in which medieval historical sources were written.
4.To witness the medieval period and understand historical architectural works and historical geography.
5.To be able to understand literary and epigraphic works written in the Middle Ages.
