Objectives of the Course

This course aims to provide an extended discussion of attempts by analytic philosophers to bring the fundamental problems of traditional philosophy to a decisive resolution.

Course Content

In this course, the basic texts of twentieth century analytic philosophy will be read. The linguistic turn, developments of symbolic logic, the emergence of analytic tradition, the logical analysis of ontological problems are the subjects to be examined through the basic texts of major philosophers within the analytic tradition. The major texts of philosophers such as Frege, Russell, Moore, Wittgenstein, Carnap, Ayer, Quine, Ryle, Searle, Putnam, Chomsky, etc., will be studied.
