Objectives of the Course

To have knowledge of and to be able to critically approach contemporary philosophical currents and the main ethical and political theories of our time that are fed by hermeneutics.

Course Content

The thoughts of philosophers in the hermeneutic tradition such as Ast, Schilermacher, Dilthey, Heidegger, Gadamer, Habermas, Rorty, Ricoeur, C. Taylor are analyzed.

1.Knows the origins of the problem of interpretation and understanding.
2.Understands the relationship between concepts such as understanding, interpretation, paraphrasing, life, experience.
3.Recognizes the relationship between the hermeneutical aspect of life and its ethical and political aspects.
4.Explores the hermeneutical dimensions of contemporary ethical and political theories.
5.Can approach these theories critically.
