Objectives of the Course

To introduce the basic principles of mathematical methods in physics.

Course Content

Vectors, coordinate systems, vector operators, Dirac Delta function, Fourier series, eigenvalue equation, matrices

Learning Outcomes
1.Must be able to express the physical problems in terms of vectors.
2.Must be able to establish the relationship between the field and integral theorems.
3.Must be able to express the physical problems in matrix formulation.
4.Must be able to express the importance of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in physics.
5.Must be able to express a physical problem in any coordinate system and be able to move from one coordinate system to another.
6.Must be able to use the Dirac Delta function in physical problems.
7.Must be able to use Gamma and Beta functions.
8.Must be able to use Fourier series in problems involving vibrational and oscillational motion and be able to perform Fourier analysis.
