Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to promote and teach what the History of Art is, its boundaries and its content as a science.

Course Content

Site types and degrees, movable and immovable cultural assets ,necessary to be protected, members of the High Council of Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection and Regional Conservation Councils and their duties, the birth of the History of Art as a branch of science, development, the History of Art education and helping disciplines, excavations and the Turkish and foreign surface researches carried out in Turkey, international quote systems used in the field of the History of Art and the first art products will be told.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to define the site concept, its types and degrees.
2.To be able to describe the movable and immovable cultural assets,necessary to be protected.
3.To be able to comprehend the working principles and the duties of the High Council of Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection and the Conservation District Board.
4.To be able to explain the birth and development of the History of Art.
5.To be able to explain what the History of Art means and the various science disciplines assisting this science.
6.To be able to recognize the excavations and the Turkish and foreign surface researches carried out in Turkey.
7.To be able to explain how to prepare a scientific study and the rules of quote systems.
8.To be able to explain what the first art products are

Defining what the site is and explaining site types and degrees.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Explaining what the movable and immovable cultural assets necessary to be protected are, giving information about the High Council of Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection and Regional Conservation Councils.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Explaining the birth and development of the discipline of the History of Art, the education of the History of Art in Turkey and around the world.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Providing information about the first organization of the History of Art in Turkey, the founders and the first Art Historians.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Explaining the fields of science that help the History of Art.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Giving information about the Turkish excavations carried out in Turkey.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Giving information about the excavations carried out by foreigners in Turkey.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Explaining the excavations of History of Art carried out by Turkish and foreign researchers in Turkey with visuals.
Week 9 - Theoretical
Explaining the excavations of History of Art carried out by Turkish and foreign researchers in Turkey with visuals.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Giving information about the surface researches carried out in Turkey.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Giving information on the rules of preparing a written work in the History of Art, evaluation and transfer of knowledge to work.
Week 12 - Theoretical
Giving information about the quote systems and explaining sources and footnotes used in the field of the History of Art history with samples.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Giving information about the APA system.
Week 14 - Theoretical
Explaining the emergence of the first art products and examples of primitive art with visuals.
