Objectives of the Course

To examine the religious architecture especially mosque development of the Principalities,established in Anatolia since the end of the XIII. century and having growing numbers in the XIV. century and ending in the XV. Century in general sense; determine the relationship/interaction of the samples built with previous and subsequent periods; localize the Principalities Period mosque architecture in the Anatolian-Turkish Architecture.

Course Content

Chronology of the Principalities Period in Anatolia, general architectural and decorative features of the works built in the Principalities Period, typology of the mosque, architectural and decorative features of the mosques, description of the mosques, their interactions with the earlier and later periods.

1.To be able to explain the history of the Principalities which established the sovereignty in pursuit of the Seljukian Period in Anatolia.
2.To be able to comprehend the features of the Principalities Period Architecture
3.To be able to describe the plan typology of the mosques built in the Principalities Period in Anatolia.
4.To be able to describe the architectural and decorative features of the mosques built in the Principalities Period in Anatolia.
5.To be able to evaluate the mosques built in the Principalities Period in Anatolia in general and their places in the Turkish architecture.

Examining the mosques in the Group of The Square-planned Single-domed Mosques (with examples) from the point of plan, architectural and decorative features.
