The aim of the course is to enable the student to acquire the knowledge and skills to recognise and interpret the development of English theatre from its early examples to the 18th century, and also to analyse the theatre movements seen in England and to examine selected texts, thus developing a critical viewpoint.
The origins and developments of British drama and the representative movements, dramatists, and their works from the Middle Ages to the 18th century are studied, discussed and interpreted.
