THIS COURSE IS A CONTINUUM OF THE PREVIOUS SEMESTER AND AIMS LIKEWISE: 1. to introduce students to a range of works derived from the English and American Romantic Poetry, 2. to distinguish the romantic poetry from the other poetic works in terms of emotional, political and artistic value; to compare and contrast English and American romanticism, 3. to evaluate the contents of the works studied. 4. to introduce American Romanticism and its content. 5. to enable students to compare and contrast English and American Romanticism.
By examining the works derived from English Romantic and MArican Romantic poets, John Keats, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Robert Browning, Phillip Frenau, Ralph Waldo Emerson ve Edgar Allan Poe, students are expected to distinguish the Romantic aspects of the poems and appreciate their emotional, political and artistic value. Studens are also expected to compare and contrast American and English Romanticism.
