The aim of this course is to analyze the examples of short stories written in the 20th century and enable students to distinguish the general characteristics of short story genre; to analyze the form and content of the short stories and find out the explicit and implicit meanings of the text ; to focus on the plot, characters, narrator, themes and setting provided in the story and to interpret the text by taking these aspects into consideration; to encourage students to think critically while evaluating the texts.
In this course, short stories written in the 20th century are covered. Throughout the semester, short stories which differ from each other in terms of themes, subject matter and literary techniques are taught and these stories are analyzed based on the theoretical framework of literary theories.
